Last spring I received a note from a fellow knitter asking me if there was a hat to go along with the SEQUENCES SHAWL. She was knitting the shawl for a friend undergoing chemotherapy and wanted a hat to go with it. I was so touched that I immediately put down everything I was working on and knit up my first SEQUENCES HAT! I loved the hat so much that I decided that it would be great to have a pair of mitts as well!

Another take on Cecelia Campochiaro’s stellar book, Sequence Knitting: Simple Methods for Creating Complex Fabrics (learn more about the book and how to buy your own copy here), SEQUENCES HAT AND MITTS translates the ideas used in SEQUENCES SHAWL to create a fun, easy to knit hat and mitts.

The hat is knit in the round from the rim up. The mitts are knit flat and seamed; thumbs are worked in the round.
