GENERAL INFORMATION:
Set the Rhythm is made for slow evenings, favourite television and the quiet pleasure of watching two beautiful skeins of yarn gradually trade places. Beginning with a single stripe, the rhythm gently builds—one, two, three—before each colour has its moment to shine.
Designed to make generous use of two skeins without requiring a third, it is a satisfying way to pair two special yarns or play with smaller amounts from your stash. Choose clearly contrasting colours for bold, crisp stripes, or experiment with a more softly blended effect.
Simple garter stitch and easy shaping make this a wonderfully relaxing, forgiving knit, while the long, shallow shawl is light, cosy and effortless to wrap and wear.

MATERIALS
Yarn:

Two 100 g skeins of fingering-weight or sock yarn in contrasting colours, with at least 384 m / 420 yd per skein.
Recommended yarn:
Malabrigo Mechita: Fingering. 100% Superwash Merino Wool, 384 m / 420 yds / 100 g / 3.53 oz.
Suggested colourway: One skein each in Pearl and Whales Road. Shown in hand-dyed yarn, no longer available.

Choosing your colours:
Choose two colours with a strong contrast—light and dark, or distinctly different hues—to keep the stripes crisp and clearly defined. Solid and semi-solid yarns work particularly well. Be wary of choosing two yarns that coordinate because they contain colours in common, as the stripes may blend into one another. If using a variegated yarn, pair it with a markedly different solid or semi-solid neutral.
