♫ The Music ♫
Shades & Shadows is a powerful and moving instrumental tune by modern composer Peter Gundry. The ebb and flow of the melody are a perfect match for the lovely cables in this design.

What’s so special? The Shades and Shadows socks have a unique heel that’s very cushy.

Features:

  • The socks are worked toe-up beginning with a barn toe.
  • The instep is worked in a Bavarian twisted stitch cable pattern which begins with an opening V-shape while the sole is worked in Stockinette stitch (knit every round).
  • The gusset increases are worked at the sides of the sole.
  • The heel is turned using a short row heel cap which means no picking up stitches.
  • The heel flap is worked in a slipped-stitch moss pattern; this pattern stitch is very compact and therefore is worked on larger needles.
  • The Bavarian twisted cable pattern continues from the instep on the front and back leg.

Lime green sample shown in Schachenmayr Regia 4-ply (75% virgin wool, 25% polyamide; 459yds / 420m per 100g) in Color 06626.
