Shades of Gray, Interrupted is a sister pattern to my Rosebuds and Daffodils, designed as a cowl, worked flat and joined, either by seaming, or by using a provisional cast-on and a three-needle bind-off (pattern includes directions for both).

The pattern, as shown, calls for three colors of Knit Picks Paragon, a scrumptious blend of merino, baby alpaca, and silk, and requires 3 balls of the main color, and 1 ball each of the two contrasting colors.

The six-row pattern repeat is garter-stitch based, with five knit rows and one row featuring yarn-over stitches to create the openwork effect - no purling required and a great introduction to openwork.

The color not in use in each repeat is carried up the side. Both sides of the fabric are attractive, although not identical. The finished piece will require a light blocking.

A stylish choice for advanced beginner or intermediate knitters!
