Isn’t it a lovely, refreshing feeling to roll up your jeans and take a paddle through gently rolling waters on a warm, sunny day. It’s also a lovely feeling to skein up your yarn and cast on a fresh new project!

The Shallow Tide shawl is a one-skein, asymmetric shawl that uses texture to create ruched waves by combining stripes of classic stockinette and reverse stockinette. In addition, yarnover increases play with decreases to pull the stitches in different directions to add an extra splash of interest to the pattern. The result is a simple, classic shawl that would work equally as well in a highly-variegated yarn as it would in a solid colour.

And when it comes to cast off your shawl, a pretty picot bind-off completes the final ripple. A video tutorial for how to work the Picot Bind-off is included in the pattern.

This shawl would be a good project for an adventurous beginner, while more experienced knitters will find it a relaxing yet engaging project.
