I love clean, modern styles in interior design. I also love traditional craft, things that serve a practical purpose, design that brings comfort to a home. So I created my modern rustic collection, to bring together contemporary and cosy.

My SHANIA cushion cover is the second in the collection. Inspired by a beautiful piece of fabric I saw with a geometric pattern of interlocking triangles. Knitted in soft, thick blue and cream wool and backed in rust coloured velvet.

The pattern describes how to knit the front and make the fabric cover for a 50 x 50cm cushion with a zipper opening. But if you don’t fancy sewing the fabric cover from scratch, you can also do an Ikea hack. They sell a wide range of pre-made velvet 50 x 50cm cushion covers, called Sanela. Knit the front and then sew it to the Sanela cover by hand.

This cushion cover is knitted in Aran / worsted weight yarn. I used ‘The Petite Wool’ by ‘We Are Knitters’, which is 100% wool and very soft. It is knitted flat, on a pair of single pointed knitting needles. The pattern is described in a chart.
