Designed for the 2026 SWC sock race. This pattern will be available after September 1, 2026 for sale in my Ravelry store.

This is a highly textured zigzag design with an additional feature of a cable running down one side reminiscent of the angled roads of the bike and car races. Each sock mirrors the cables and motifs.
The 64 stitch sock on 2.25 mm, the cuff and overall fit was too tight for my size 8 women’s foot. If you play with needle size you may make it work for you.
The 72 stitch sock on 2.25 mm was just right measuring approximately 9.25”.

Gauge is best at 32-36 rounds x 48 rows, (8-9 st/inch).

Any high twist merino/nylon or crisp BFL would help making the diagonals and cable pop nicely. A MCN would feel delicious but might not give as nice a stitch definition. A single ply they would not be appropriate for this sock.

There was a 20 mg over estimate of a full skein of KP Hawthorne.

Best yarns would be: solid, tonal, speckle, or gradient.
Variegated and self-striping yarns will not look as defined and may obscure design elements.

Thanks to my many SWC testers and other SWC moderators for bringing this design to life.
