Knitted shawl in a sport weight yarn. The piece is worked in a long asymmetrical triangle, with a lace pattern on the right-hand side, and garter stitches and increases on the left-hand side.

The sample is knit in a sport weight yarn. App. 160 x 110 cm in size.
The pattern is adjustable so you can make the shawl as large as you want. Gauge is just a guide. Choosing the right size needles for your yarn is more important.

To have room for all the stitches, the piece is worked back and forth with circular needles from the tip on the one side of the shawl and outwards. The whole shawl is worked in a lace pattern on the right-hand side, and expanded on the left with the garter stitch. Stitches are increased on only the left-hand side of the shawl (right side). The shawl has a right and a wrong side.

Stitches used:

  • Basic stitches: Knit; purl; slip as if to knit.
  • Increases: Knit front and back loop; yarn over.
  • Decreases: Knit 2 together; slip 1 as if to knit, knit 1, pass the slipped stitch over; knit 3, pass first stitch worked over the 2 other stitches, so that this stitch is wrapped around the 2 last stitches on right-hand needle.

The pattern is easy to memorize.
