For LYS Day 2023 Manos del Uruguay invited LYS owners to build their own Mini-Skein Kit using 5 colors of Fino. The curated color grouping, reflecting their shop, is then exclusive to that particular shop until the end of the year.

Using the five colors in the Our Local Yarn Shop Fino bundle, I’ve created a “paint with yarn” pattern based on my idea of our greater Olympia area using the chosen colors representing our Pacific Northwest “vibe”. Proceeds from sales of this pattern will go to benefit Friends of the Capitol Forest, a wonderful local volunteer conservation group.

This shawl is full of short rows and uses all 5 colors in the mini skein bundle. New colors are added from both the left and right sides of the shawl, carry yarns along the side to reduce cutting and weaving in ends. Beads can be added for an optional bit of sparkle. Gauge is not so important and if you are a tight knitter you might want to go up to a US size 7 needle.
