Jessica from The Hook Nook has been such an inspiration to me since I first started my little business, The Chesapeake Needle, two years ago. She is one of the most encouraging, uplifting people I have ever been lucky enough to meet! Her journey has taught me so much about self-love; overcoming depression and abuse; letting go of toxic attitudes, people, and other influences; and how those doing these things will set you free to live your best life. The more I get to know myself, the more I see how broken I actually am and the more I feel the need to fix myself. However, learning to heal can be an intense, painful process, so it’s best to take it one tiny step at a time. My “She Conquers” tassel scarf design is a tribute to the triumph Jessica has achieved herself, as well as for the victories she has helped others attain through sharing her story. We are loved, we are enough, and we are always worth fighting for.

This scarf / shawl is the perfect accessory for those cool spring nights! I love how the tapered rectangle shape works with the yummy textures and the decadent tassels to both draw the eye and hold its attention. This is all good news, but I’ve saved the best for last: it’s large enough to be worn as either an oversized scarf or a light wrap, depending on your mood! Since the pattern uses such simple stitches and techniques, a beginner should be able to complete this pattern with ease, especially with the help of my trusty photo tutorials. It’s also extremely easy to make adjustment for different weights and fibers! The yarn I chose for this project is Onion No. 4 from Fairlight Fibers in the color “Plum.” This is one of my favorite yarns of all time, as it is soft, sleek, and has a beautiful heathered appearance. I highly recommend it!

MATERIALS

  • Approximately 710 yards of DK weight yarn (I used Onion No. 4 from Fairlight Fibers in the color “Plum”)

  • US size 6 (4mm) knitting needles - either straight or circular

  • Yarn needle

  • Scissors

MEASUREMENTS / GAUGE

Due to the versatile nature of this pattern, the measurements and gauge may vary widely depending on your chosen materials. The scarf I made was approximately 90” long x 10” wide and had a gauge of 6 stitches x 7 rows per 1”.
