She Persisted.

As do you.

This is obviously my contribution to the Pussyhat project. I really wasn’t expecting to be inspired to create a chart, find the yarn, knit the hat, write the pattern, and edit in the span of 48 hours….but the message of persisting in spite of obstacles is something that resonates deeply for me, and it was something I felt compelled to do.

The pattern is free. I only ask that should you choose to make the hat, that you craft it and wear it with as much love as was poured into its design ♥

I’ve included directions for both a rectangular hat (in the style of the now ubiquitous pussyhat) as well as for shaping the crown as a beanie or toque. I’ve worked out the chart so that there are only a few long floats to deal with. There is only one size, so sizing needs to be adjusted by gauge/yarnweight or by adding/removing sts in between the “She” and “Persisted”. You can handle that. Sorry (not sorry) but I didn’t have time to write up 3 sizes. I suck :P

Materials:
1 skein each of the MC (fuchsia) and CC (Zarte Knospe) of Wollmeise DK (468 yds/skein), or
approximately 135 yards of the MC, and 50 yards of the CC in DK or Light worsted yarn

Please note I used DK yarn only because I wanted a pink hat, and this was the only pink yarn I had left in my stash. The DK yarn is fairly light at this gauge, but you can easily sub worsted or light worsted weight yarn for the pattern with equal success.
