12/16/2012: Pattern has been updated to correct stitch counts for large sized bag.

Errata:
The stitch count for the large size is off in rounds 3-6.
You need to have a multiple of 6 stitches before you start the solid shell pattern. As long as you make sure that in that last round before you begin the shells, you have that multiple, you should be fine. If you were to follow the pattern (if it were correct) your final stitch counts for the large bag would be
Round3 - 90
Round 4 -94
Round 5- 98
Round 6 - 102

This little market tote is quick and easy to stitch up. Sample was made holding 2 strands of Royale Cotton Crochet Thread (#3) together, but a worsted weight cotton should work well also. The solid shell stitch at the bottom of the bag provides extra durabilty to the bag and prevents small objects from falling out. The bag gradually shifts to an open mesh pattern common in string market bags. The handle is a crocheted cord whch has been woven through the top mesh, allowing for the bag to be ‘closed’ to secure items and added reinforcement for carryinng slightly heavier objects.
