Knit a bold touch of the barnyard with this Ram Square Knitting Pattern! Featuring a strong yet endearing sheep with curling brown horns, this charming design captures the rustic spirit of farm life and makes a great statement piece for country-themed décor. Worked flat with a tidy garter stitch border around a smooth stockinette center, this square is perfect for cozy pillows, barn-inspired baby blankets, wall hangings, or even a playful sweater or tote bag.

The pattern includes a full colorwork chart and row-by-row written instructions. Choose your favorite technique — intarsia or duplicate stitch — and bring this handsome horned sheep to life with every stitch!

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
The final size of the project will depend on the yarn and needle size you choose. Here are examples for three different yarn weights:
Sport weight (5 ply) with 3.5 mm (US 4) needles:
37 × 37 cm (15″ × 15″) — approx. 120 g
DK (8 ply) or worsted weight (8 ply) with 3.75 mm - 4 mm (US 5-7) needles (sample shown): 46 × 46 cm (18″ × 18″) — approx. 140–180 g
Aran weight (10 ply) with 5.5 mm (US 9) needles:
52 × 52 cm (20″ × 20″) — approx. 250 g

MATERIALS NEEDED
I used DK weight (8 ply) yarn — 140 g of YarnArt Creative, 100% cotton, 50 g ≈ 85 m / 1.8 oz ≈ 93 yds
Knitting needles: 3.75 mm (US 5)
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
If you want to match the sample size, use DK yarn with a similar gauge. However, you’re free to use any yarn you like! This project is highly adaptable — just choose suitable needles for your yarn and enjoy the process.
