This is a knitting pattern – NOT the actual animal. The pattern is a PDF, written in English for intermediate knitters knitting flat on two needles.

If you know how to do a crochet chain stitch, the lamb is one of the easiest animals. It’s also one of the most time-consuming because it requires adding fleece in chain loop stitches all around the body and most of the head. Sheep come in lots of colors and variations, and you can change the colors of the legs, ears, face, and fleece to fit the look you like best.

You need to have…
• Yarn in desired color(s) and weight (~6oz/100g for sport weight; ~24oz/700g for worsted)
• Yarn in a contrasting, darker color for the mane and tail tip
• Contrast yarn for eyes and nostrils
• Knitting needles at least 2 sizes smaller than those recommended for the yarn being used
• Stuffing
• Crochet hook for crochet chain loop stitches
• Tapestry needle

You need to know (or learn)…
• Stockinette stitch
• Increase and decrease stitches
• Mattress stitch for sewing seams
• Crochet chain loop stitch
• Basic color change techniques (optional)
