Sheep Thrum Mittens
Looking for the warmest pair of mittens you’ll ever make? Traditionally created in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, thrummed mittens use roving, knit together with worsted weight yarn to create a soft, warm, fleecy lining to your mittens. A quick an easy pattern, you’ll have warm hands all winter long.
Size: Sizes: small, medium, large
Yarn: 1 skein - Lake K nit Yarns Worsted, 50 g = 92 yds (84m)
Roving - 2 oz (50 g) (amount will depend on the size of thrums made)
Needles: 4 - U.S. size 6 (4mm) straight needles or DPN’s or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: Thrum pattern - 6 sts and 8 rnds = 1 inch (2.5 cm) on U.S. size 6 (4 mm) needles, worked flat, or size needed to obtain gauge. Gauge is measured, unblocked.
