With only a 2-row pattern repeat, this free crochet baby blanket pattern is an easy project suitable for confident beginners.

The fan shape is created by working 5 double crochets in the single crochet from the previous row and the next row, 5 doubles together.

The stitch from the end of row one is held on a stitch marker.

Row two, the pattern returns to the beginning of row one (no turning after row one) where the contrasting color is joined. Row 2 is worked in the same direction as row one.

This row ends with a single crochet, working the last pull through of this with the loop of the main color from the stitch holder.

If you’re not such a fan of sewing like me, you’ll be pleased to know that even though the pattern works with two colors on alternating rows, there is minimal sewing in of ends!
