Shell Phone Bag
The Shell Phone Bag is a small knitted crossbody featuring rows of textured shell stitches and simple one-piece construction.
The main body is worked flat as a rectangle using the p5togm5 shell stitch. Once the knitting is complete, the rectangle is folded and seamed to create the pouch and flap. A knitted i-cord forms the strap, and a button with a handmade loop finishes the closure.
The finished bag measures approximately 4 x 9 x 1.5 inches (10 x 23 x 4 cm), making it a compact size for carrying a phone and a few small essentials.
The pattern uses 100–150 yards of KnitPicks Heatherly Sport and US 5 (3.75 mm) knitting needles. A yarn needle, stitch markers, and button are also needed. A 3.75 mm crochet hook is optional for making the closure loop, which can also be made with your fingers.
Because the shell stitch requires working several stitches together and then making stitches back into them, this pattern is more involved than a true beginner project even though the bag construction itself is straightforward.
