This design was inspired by a little shell which I found on a walk form Warkworth towards Amble in Northumberland!

The scarf can be knitted in a choice of sizes.

Finished Size

Scarf One – 50cm wide (tapers to a narrow point at end) x 200cm long

Scarf Two – 50cm x 194cm

Scarf One is triangular shaped and lighter weight for the Spring and Autumn, whereas Scarf Two is bigger and warmer to snuggle up in the Winter months. It is knitted in a drop stitch rib which I chose because it is not only very effective but, the fabric produced looks like the pattern of ridges on the shell which was my inspiration. I also really really like the excitement of dropping stitches on purpose (I’m sad like that!!).

I have knitted this scarf in 2 different yarns

-Sublime Alpaca DK. I loved working with this gorgeously soft yarn and the colour choices were influenced by my inspiration, but it also comes in a wider range of delicious colours.
-West Yorkshire Spinners Wensleydale Gems which comes in the most amazing colours!! This yarn can be ordered from my website (link below)

You could knit this scarf in any dk yarn you like and I would love to see your finished project.
