Shellscape Socks
Dip your toes into summer sock knitting with the Shellscape Socks! Inspired by the bright summery hues of Moonglow Yarn Co’s Pool Party collection, these socks will keep you wanting to knit stripe after wavy stripe! The pattern features a scalloped ribbed cuff, which complements the wavy lace of the main sock perfectly.
Yarn:
The pattern uses approximately 350yds/320m of fingering weight yarn in total. You can use as many different contrast colours as you like to create the socks, and each stripe will use around 2g of yarn across both socks.
The sample shown uses 1 x 100g skein and 6 x 10g mini skeins of fingering weight yarn featuring the Pool Party Sock Set from Moonglow Yarn Co (75% Merino, 25% nylon) (463yds/423m per 100g). Note: some testers found that the large size required an extra mini skein, depending on the length of the foot required.
Recommended Needle Size:
2.25mm (US Size 1) or appropriate size to obtain gauge. The pattern is written for the magic loop method, but can easily be adapted for using DPNs.
Gauge:
32 sts / 42 rows = 4 inches (10cm) in stockinette stitch.
Sizes:
Small (Medium, Large). Length is customisable.
Finished Measurements:
Small – 56 stitches (7 inch circumference)
Medium – 64 stitches (8 inch circumference)
Large – 72 stiches (9 inch circumference)
