REQUIRED TECHNIQUES. Italian Tubular cast-on for 2x2 rib (alternative: Longtail cast-on), working in the round, binding-off purlwise, picking up sts, decreases, I-Cord.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES.
• This garment is made in one piece, both flat and in the round.
• First, the folded face band is worked in the round in 2x2 rib pattern.
• After face band, back and font are worked separately flat in 2x2 rib pattern.
• Then, the front and the back pieces are joined together, and the crown worked in the round.
• The earflaps are worked by picking up sts from the folded edge of the face band. They are worked flat in Stockinette stitch and finished with an “I-Cord”.
• Once the hat is completed, a cute pompom will be attached to the top of the hat.
