According to the legend, Robin Hood lived hidden in the Sherwood Forest, stealing from the rich to give back to the poor. Named after this legendary English forest, the Sherwood socks bear a textured pattern representing the feathers that used to be found on arrows, at the time of the famous sylvan archer.

Knitted toe up, Sherwood is made using my all new Tweedledum heel in garter stitch! It is just as simple as its “big brother”, the Tweedledee and allows you to knit a beautiful holeless garter stitch heel!

INFORMATION AND MATERIAL

SIZES
S/M (60st), L (64st), XL (68st)

GAUGE
32 stitches X 44 rows = 10cm/10cm square, stockinette in the round, after blocking.

NB : On a pattern such as Sherwood, that is made using long charts, it is VERY important to have the right number of rows per 10 cm (give or take a few rows)! If not, you could find yourself with socks that are either too small or too big!

YARNS
“Light Fingering” size yarn (usually 425-500m/100g). It is recommended to use yarn that contains nylon, for durability.

• QUANTITY : 270, (285), (300) meters. Shown in Less Traveled Yarn, “Cottonwood Gin” colour I recommend selecting a light colour to highlight the patterns.

NOTIONS

• Needles needed to obtain the gauge, usually 2,25mm to 2,75mm
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch markers

INSTRUCTIONS
The pattern is made of written instructions and charts, for the textured patterns.

PS: The chart is rather bulky and may seem complex at first, but do not let it overwhelm you! The pattern is very intuitive and easy to memorize! After a few rows, you’ll find yourself only looking at the chart to know when to start the next pattern.

Selon la légende, Robin des bois aurait vécu caché dans la forêt de Sherwood, détroussant les riches pour redonner aux pauvres. Portant le nom de cette légendaire forêt anglaise, Sherwood est un patron de chaussette arborant un motif texturé représentant les plumes que l’on retrouvait sur les flèches, à l’époque du célèbre archer sylvestre!

Tricotés des orteils jusqu’à la cheville, Sherwood est composé de mon tout nouveau talon Tweedledum en point mousse! Il est tout aussi simple que son « grand frère », le Tweedledee, et permet d’obtenir un beau talon en point mousse, sans trou!

32 mailles X 44 rangs = carré de 10cm/10cm tricoté à l’endroit en rond, après blocage.

NB : Dans un patron comme Sherwood, construit avec des chartes volumineuses, il est TRÈS important d’avoir le bon nombre de rangs par 10 cm (à quelques rangs près)! Dans le cas contraire, vous pouvez facilement vous retrouver avec des chaussettes trop petites ou trop grandes!

FILS
Grosseur « light fingering » (généralement 425-500m/100g). Il est suggéré d’utiliser un fil contenant un certain pourcentage de nylon, pour la durabilité.

• QUANTITÉ : 270, (285), (300) mètres. Présenté en Less Traveled Yarn, couleur « Cottonwood Gin » Je suggère de choisir une couleur claire afin de mettre les motifs en valeur.

INSTRUCTIONS
Le patron est composé d’instructions écrites et de chartes, pour les motifs texturés.

PS: Les chartes sont très volumineuses et peuvent sembler complexe au premier regard, mais ne vous laissez pas impressionner! Le motif est très intuitif et facile à mémoriser! Après quelques rangs, vous vous surprendrez à ne regarder vos chartes que pour savoir où commencer le prochain motif !

Les abréviations utilisées sont majoritairement tirées de l’anglais. Un tableau, situé à la seconde page du patron, définit chaque abréviation utilisée ; cela permet non seulement d’alléger les instructions écrites, mais facilitera également la compréhension de votre prochain patron exclusivement en anglais!
