Raised by King Théoden after her father Éomund was killed by Orcs and her mother died from grief, Éowyn lived in Meduseld. The primary caregiver of her uncle who was enthralled by neighboring Saruman and his puppet Wormtongue, she is a fierce leader of Rohan and loyal to her family, doing everything she can to bring her uncle back to health and power. After Gandalf heals Théoden, Éowyn’s attempts to join the battle against evil are continually thwarted by her family, and she finally disguises herself as a man alongside the Hobbit Merry and escapes. Skilled with a blade, an accomplished rider, and often dismissed because of her gender, she is essential in the destruction of Sauron.

Dress like the warrior princess you are! Inspired by the armor Éowyn wears, this vest is worked in the round from the bottom up until the sleeve shaping. The front and back are then worked flat before being joined into the round again for the neckline. A cap-sleeved vest and costume replica from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, a faux-quilted pattern throughout is created with knits and purls, with stranded colorwork details running along the bottom edge, middle, neckline, and sleeve caps. The sleeve caps are worked separately with German short rows, then joined into the arm openings with single crochet.
