The Shift Scarf strikes just the right balance of interesting knitting and relaxing garter stitch. Worked in the suggested yarn, it’s about the coziest scarf you can imagine! With or without tassels, it is a charming oversized scarf with off-the-charts squishability.

Details
Shift is cast on using a shawl technique and makes use of modular knitting to change the direction of the chevron pattern. Detailed instructions make these transitions easy to follow.

If you’ll be using another yarn, I recommend a heavy fingering weight/light sport weight, preferably of natural fibers. You’ll need approximately 550yds (503m) of Color A, 157yds (144m) of Color B, 166yds (152m) of Color C, 130yds (119m) of Color D, and 166yds (152m) of Color E. These yardage requirements do not include the tassels.
