The Shimmer Shawl pattern and yarn kit are part of the Knit for the Girls 2026 ‘Down Under’ Pattern Collection, created for the annual Knit for the Girls breast cancer research fundraiser.

Launching 1st October, the Knit for the Girls 2026 ‘Down Under’ Pattern Collection brings together some of our beloved Australian knitwear designers and hand-dyers, in support of the Knit for the Girls breast cancer research fundraiser. Discover six brand-new accessory patterns which have been designed in exclusive, pink-inspired colourways by some of our favourite ‘down under’ indie dyers. Knit or crochet along with us this October and join us for
a virtual ‘Knit & Zoom for the Girls’ event to be held Sunday, 25th October at 1pm AEDT. Stay tuned for more details on that soon.

During October 2026, 20% of Shimmer Shawl pattern and yarn Kit sales from the Knit for the Girls 2026 ‘Down Under’ Pattern Collection will be donated to the official Knit for the Girls fundraiser for the
National Breast Cancer Foundation Australia, supporting breast cancer research.

I have partnered with Terina from Love and Speckles yarns who has created DK and Fingering weight yarn kit options for the Shimmer Shawl and these will also be available on October 1.

Knit tip-to-tip, Shimmer Shawl is an easy-to-wear, shallow crescent-like shaped shawl with a modern aesthetic. Classic chevron patterning is reimagined here, designed to allow a gorgeous mini-skein set of yarn to shimmer symmetrically. Or knit it up in a single colour or colour-change yarn to make this your own. The instructions include options for both fingering or DK weight yarn. Either way, you can make a bold or subtle statement with your colour selection and create yourself a wardrobe classic to enjoy for years to come.
