This pattern is dedicated to my boyfriend’s mum, Shirley!

Shirley asked for a simple hat and scarf set that would be easy for beginners, and would make use of the beautiful Opal Rainforest 4-ply variegated yarn.

So, I put together a quick and easy beanie hat. I kept it really simple to show off the lovely colour changes. Due to the lightweight yarn, it’s suited for chilly autumn or spring days where you just need to keep the tips of your ears covered! It will fit an average adult woman’s head. (At least, I’m assuming my head is basically average.)

It’s knitted on straight 3.25mm needles and all you need to know is how to knit, purl, increase (by knitting front and back) and decrease (by knitting two together). That’s it!
