Manos del Uruguay Maxima (218 yds)
3 hanks in Main Color (MC), 1 hank in Contrasting Color (CC)

FINISHED SIZE SCARF – 9” wide X 80” long
Finished size cowl – 60” circumference X 12” long

GAUGE
16 stitches = 4” in seed stitch on a size 8 needle

TOOLS
Size 8 circular needle (32”)

SEED STITCH PATTERN FOR SCARF
All rows – Knit 1, Purl 1, repeat across row

DIRECTIONS FOR SCARF
With Main Color and #8 needle cast on 319 stitches.
Knit in seed stitch pattern until scarf measures 1 1/2” from cast on. Do not cut Main Color. Attach
Contrasting Color and knit the next row, cut the contrasting color and go back to where you left the
main color. Knit next row in Main Color
. Repeat from to until scarf measures 9” from the
beginning.
Bind off loosely.

SEED STITCH PATTERN FOR COWL
Row 1 – Knit 1, Purl 1, repeat across row
Row 2 – Purl 1, Knit 1, repeat across row

DIRECTIONS FOR COWL
With Main Color and #8 needle cast on 240 stitches. Join in the round, careful not to twist the stitches.
** Knit in seed stitch pattern until cowl measures 2” from cast on. Do not cut Main Color. Attach
Contrasting Color and knit the next row, cut the contrasting color. Knit next row in Main Color.
Repeat from
to ** until cowl measures 12” from the beginning.
Bind off loosely.
