This shawl begins with the generational favorite Feather and Fan stitch pattern. The gentle scallops that result from opposing increases and decreases resemble waves lapping at the shore. The main body of the shawl is worked using short-row shaping. The balanced design provides a central rectangular area as well as tapered sections on each side. Less fabric on the ends affords the wearer the flexibility of turning the shawl to the front and wrapping the neck area while maintaining a drapey effect. An I-cord bind off provides the finishing touch to this classic accessory.

Pattern includes instruction for using fingering weight (876 yards) OR sport weight yarn (500 yards).

Dimension (after blocking): approximately 80” long and 13-14” wide at center.
