This is a two-pattern, 24-page e-book, Short Rowing Across the Atlantic, with one pattern by Jane Thornley, the other by Ilga Leja: two patterns, two designers, one inspiration.

SHORELINES WRAP: Imagine knitting a slice of Atlantic shoreline to toss over your shoulders or wrap about your neck? The irregularity of this piece heightens the picturesque mood while offering the knitter opportunity to knit ‘off-grid’ in an ambulant play of color and texture. There is no wrong way to knit here. Mistakes don’t happen, only opportunities to explore new realms and create a shoreline completely your own. Consider this playing in the waves for adults.

Knit in free-form short rows interspersed with irregular riffs of feather and fan, garter, and stockinet stitch, the Shoreline wrap undulates in waves of color and texture. The key is not to try for exact symmetry so much as an approximate balance to shape your wrap.

The wrap shown is knit in a variety of Fleece Artist/HandMaiden yarns. Kit available.

MID-ATLANTIC WRAP: The short row construction along one side and then along the opposite side creates the contrasting movement. At the same time, increases along both sides, together with a softly ruffled border, form the ever-widening shape of this piece.

The modulating colors of a self-striping yarn emphasize the rippling stitch pattern and contribute to the over-all sea-like impression.

Contains both charts and written instructions.

Mid-Atlantic is knit in Noro Silk Garden.
