After publishing Knitloops Socks in the Spring + Summer 2021 issue of Knitty, I kept playing with 1-ft/30cm length Color Loops. I would like to share those ideas and encourage others to post projects of their self-striped socks using Color Loops.

For how-to for the pictured sock and other socks, see my projects, watch the video linked below (or any of my videos for other ideas), or make up your own!

Please use this pattern to link your projects.

For some of my favorite basic sock instructions you may enjoy downloading this pattern, but if you’re already comfortable with your favorite sock attributes, it’s not necessary.

This pattern includes:

-links to 2 of my go-to cast-on methods
-how to create Color Loops using a ruler and stitch markers
-my recommendations on making an ankle snug pre-heel
-2 versions of my favorite shadow stitch short row heel/toe
-slightly simplified instructions for shadow stitches
-my standard heel flap and gusset if you prefer that over short row heels

Although these are all written for cuff-down, there is no reason you can’t knit socks toe-up using Color Loops.

This category of Color Loops using self-striping yarn is open to any interpretation, including the use of any of the stitch patterns I’ve got in the Color Loops ebook or anything you may come up with on your own! The fun of self-striping yarn is that we have all these colors to play with without changing yarns, so there are so many possibilities once you start making Color Loops of different colors.
