Featuring Yarn by
Olive & Two Ewes - Fingerlings

Carolyn and Michelle, are the two ewes behind Olive & Two Ewes.
When featuring a yarn I ask what the inspiration for the color-way come from. “This color-way is Fingerlings and is a tonal solid with some tone-on-tone speckles. We have a companion color, Potato Peel Pie (inspired by a book.) Fingerlings was so named due to the number of knitters at a fiber show in Mississippi we vended at who came to us asking for “fingerlings” yarn. One of our dear volunteer helpers gently touched one woman’s arm and whispered kindly, “It’s FINGERING dear…not FINGERLINGS. We’re talking yarn, not potatoes!” LOL” (O2E)
When designing for a yarn feature I try to capture the dyers yarn story within the pattern. As we all love a day at a yarn festival I tried to recreate this with zigzag and vertical lines representing the walkways and stalls along with eyelets being the people weaving in and out buy the yarn with purpose or impulse, both exceptable in my eyes. This resulted in a beautiful simple lace pattern, meatched with twist stitch highlights to give a elegant and beautiful look for those wanting something a little bit special.
