We cycle a lot here in Copenhagen, so a good pair of cable-knit mittens is essential. Wool is perfect: it feels lovely to wear, keeps you warm, allows a bit of natural airflow, and looks stylish. Mittens are a great project to start with: they’re smaller and less time-consuming than a sweater, which can take several months. Yet they are just as rich in technique as our other designs, just on a smaller scale.

SIZE: One size

RECOMMENDED NEEDLES:
Double-pointed needles (DPNs) size 3.5 mm. Alternatively, a circular needle 3.5 mm, 80 cm long, can be used with the Magic Loop technique.

GAUGE:
21 sts x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch on 3,5 mm needles.

Please note that needle sizes are guidelines. If you knit tighter than the gauge, use larger needles; if you knit looser, use smaller needles.

YARN:
Håndværksgarn 100 g (100 g = 200 meters) from Hjelholt Spinning Mill.

CONSTRUCTION:
The mittens are worked from the wrist toward the fingers. Increases are made for the thumb, which is worked separately at the end. The mittens are worked on double-pointed needles or on a long circular needle using the Magic Loop technique.
