Side-Seamed Flat Socks by Shawn O'Neil

Side-Seamed Flat Socks

Discontinued. This digital pattern is no longer available online.

EDITED: Test-knitting of this pattern proved to be futile. There was a design flaw I couldn’t think my way out of, so I have removed the pattern. There are plenty of knit-flat sock patterns available though!

This pattern is for socks knit flat and then seamed up the sides. It is knit cuff-down, with wrap-less short row heels and toes.

I wrote this pattern for my grandmother, and so I tried to make it as accessible as possible for people who have not knit socks before, but know how to knit and purl.

The number of cast-on stitches is based entirely on your gauge. Please remember that socks are generally knit on needles one or two sizes below what is “recommended” on the ballband, to prolong their life.
