Silvan Echoes
As the Northern Hemisphere shifts into Spring, Silvan Echoes captures the very moment life begins to stir after a long winter sleep. The name “Silvan” comes from the Latin silva (meaning wood or forest). Much like a sound echoing through a quiet forest, these textured stitches start in the centre and ripple outward through 3 distinct CAL parts and difficulty levels.
For those who follow the natural rhythms of the year, this pattern serves as a grounding, meditative practice. Each round builds a layer of organic texture, turning yarn into a beautiful design for your home.
How the CAL Works
The Silvan Echoes crochet pattern grows from a doily into a cushion, and finally into a small rug or a medallion blanket. This CAL is designed so you pay only once and decide where you want to stop.
The three stages of growth in Spring:
Part 1: The Heartwood (Doily) published in March 2026.
Part 2: The Branching (Cushion) published in April 2026. DOWNLOAD LINK
Part 3: The Finale (Small rug or medallion blanket) will be published in May 2026.
I’ve already received 2 inquiries about the possibility of opening a thread with this CAL on Ravelry. While I was fully prepared to lead one, I was informed in March 2026 that the current Ravelry procedures don’t have a relevant group category for it. If you know a suitable group, please write your suggestions in a comment.
How to Receive Next Parts of this CAL:
To keep the momentum going, simply upload a photo of your completed part to Ravelry and link your project to this pattern. Next parts of this CAL will be sent to your email or Ravelry account after completing the previous part. Please allow 24 hours for delivery due to time zone differences. From May 2026 this pattern will be available on Ravelry in all 3 parts.
Pattern Highlights:
Skill Level: Perfect for those comfortable with front post double crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches (in American crochet terms) and following written and charted patterns.
Visuals: Includes high-quality crochet charts for all parts.
Language: Written row-by-row pattern in English.
Video Support: Full video tutorial is available for Part 1 (Rounds 1–19, Easy level).
Part 2 (Rounds 19-40, Intermediate level) includes videos for several tricky sections.
Part 3 (finishing rounds, advanced level) is provided as written and charted instructions only.
Yarn & Hook
Recommended yarn: Cotton, cotton/acrylic blends, or high-quality acrylic in a solid color. Avoid highly variegated yarns, as they will hide the outstanding stitches.
Yarn weight used: Sport / Fine (USA) / 5-ply (UK).
Yardage requirements depend on the size of your project:
Part 1, Doily (Rounds 1-19, 6 pages): 130 yds (120 m), diameter: 10’’ = 25.5 cm.
Part 2, Cushion (both sides, Rounds 19-40, 12 pages): 1040 yds (950 m), diameter: 17.7’’ = 45 cm.
Part 3, Small Rug/Medallion (final rounds): 1200 yds (1100 m), diameter: 28’’ = 71 cm.
You may check gauge if you wish to match the same stitch size and yarn usage; otherwise, use a hook recommended for your yarn as your main hook, and a hook 1 mm smaller for the first rounds. 3 and 4 mm hooks were used in the sample shown.
For a larger rug, use a thicker wool/acrylic blend and a larger hook.
Please keep the original small margins of this PDF during printing out.
