The collar/cape is knitted from the top down with one strand of Ashford Merino 4ply/Dye Studio 54 Sparkle Sock 4ply, held together with one strand of Drops Kids Silk/Rowan Kidsilk Haze. I chose a light fingering weight (4ply) and a fluffy lace weight (2ply) to have a nice drapey fabric. You will start by creating an I-cord and then picking up and knitting stitches from the cord. The collar/cape is worked back and forth throughout with decorative and carefully placed increases. The final increase row will form ruffles, and the collar/cape ends with a wavy lace pattern and a beautiful picot edge. You can wear the cape over a blouse or a plain pullover as an accessory to embellish your look.

Measurements:

Finished Size:
43 cm 17.25’’ neck circumference
16/22 cm 6.5’’/8,75’’ collar length

Gauge:
21 sts x 30 rows = 10 cm x 10 cm 4” x 4”
knitted in stocking stitch with 4 mm US 6 needles
I-cord: 24 rows = 10 cm 4”
knitted with 4 mm US 6 double-pointed needles

The gauge is measured after washing and blocking.

The gauge will determine how large the collar/cape will be, if you have more stitches/rows per cm/inch the collar/cape will end up smaller than intended, if you have less it will be bigger. This therefore can be used to make a smaller size for a toddler/baby or bigger for a larger adult.
