This Fair Isle hat is knit in the round. It depicts a lake, forest, and sky landscape. I designed it while sitting on the shores of Silver Lake in northern Minnesota, thus the name, “Silver Lake Hat”.

It uses small amounts of 8 colors of yarn. It is originally designed with Dale of Norway “Heilo” sport weight but you could use any type of sport weight yarn in your stash and you can be free with the colors. You could even be creative and change colors to make a fall, winter, or night scene. I have listed the approximate yardages needed for each color.

You can easily change sizes by using fingering weight or worsted weight yarn and appropriate size needles. The pattern specifies two sizes, 21” adult and 19” child.

There is a coordinating baby cardigan in my Ravelry shop called “Blueberry Forest Baby/Toddler Cardigan.

I really hope you try making this hat and that you enjoy it as much as I have.
