Yarn:
Main colour: One skein Wild Atlantic Yarns Niamh 4ply. 50 % merino, 50 % silk. 400 m or 437 yards/100 g.
Contrast colour: 10 g of the same yarn base in a different colour (for the border).
Shown in main colour “Silver Birch” and contrast colour “Fire Rose”.
Be advised that if using a different yarn base for the edge (a lighter or heavier weight), you may encounter difficulties in getting it to lay flat. Blocking may help.

Construction: You will begin with just a few sts at one corner (long tail foundation single crochet is used, video supplied), increase at one side and at the same time decrease at the other. The contrast colour border is worked along the two short sides after the main scarf is done.

Size: 52 cm/20.5 inches down center back, 160 cm/63 inches wingspan. You can make the scarf larger and smaller as described in the pattern. Changing the size will change the amount of yarn needed.

Hooks: 4.5 mm or size G or H. Size G is 4 /4.25 mm, so if you work tightly, a size H (5 mm) might work better for you.

Beads: Many. Or none. Each eyelet row can be beaded, or you can leave them out, as you please. Bead numbers for each eyelet row are included in the stitch count tables. If you bead every possible row and work 10 eyelet rows, you will need 405 beads.
