Simple Baby Blanket
This pattern is written to make one square and the blanket can be as big or as small as you want it to be!
I used two balls each of Rico merino dk in 3 different shades. So this total of 6 balls makes a blanket that is approx. 51cm x 58cm.
This is the perfect size for a pram or cot.
The 3 shades I chose were ecru, light grey and dark grey. These make 7 squares in two of the shades and 6 squares in one of the shades to get 20 squares for this size blanket.
CONSTRUCTION
Each square is knitted flat from the bottom up in one piece then joined together.
TECHNIQUES USED
Cast on, knit, cast off. Optional but recommended to create the feeling of joy when joining your pieces: mattress stitch.
YARN
Two 50g balls each of Rico merino DK in shade A, shade B & shade C.
SUGGESTED NEEDLES
4mm.
GAUGE (tension)
22 stitches and 44 rows to 10cm square over garter stitch. I obtained this gauge with 4mm needles.
It is important to obtain gauge so do swatch and change your needle size to achieve the correct gauge if you need to.
SIZE & FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
One square measures approx. 13cm x 13cm.
Finished blanket of 20 squares (4 x 5) measures approx. 50cm x 62cm
Finished blanket of 25 squares (5 x 5) measures approx. 62cm x 62cm
