The great thing about this piece, as with the Simple Knit Shrug I designed for ladies, is that you can make adjustments for sleeve length and back width as needed. As long as you place markers evenly where the seams are to be sewn, and mirror what you do on one sleeve for the other, it should turn out great.

I’ve written the pattern with a guide for 4 sizes:

  • Small 6-12 months
  • Medium 12-18 months
  • Large 24 months
  • X-Large 36 months

I found a very helpful baby measurement chart on the web that I used as a guide when designing this pattern. You can also use a sweater that the child wears or take measurements yourself for the best fit. As always with kiddos, bigger is better because they’ll always grow into it!

For the Medium size my finished blocked measurements were:

Sleeve to sleeve length: 24”
Opening width for back: 9”
Back height: 10”
Forearm/wrist circumference: 7”
