This is a pdf knitting pattern, written in English and using standard US terminology, for you to knit a DK weight ‘Simple Bonnet’ photo prop (also known as a Basic Bonnet, or Classic Bonnet). This is NOT a ready to ship hat.

This knitting pattern contains instructions to work the Simple Bonnet up in 5 sizes: newborn, 0-3 months, 3-6 months, 6-9 months, and 9-12 months.

The completed bonnet is a photo prop to be used with supervision in newborn and sitter photography sessions.

This pattern is well-suited to a beginner knitter, as this bonnet is knit flat and then seamed. It is worked up using DK weight yarn on 4mm (US6) needles.

You will need to know how to cast on and off, knit, purl, and knit two stitches together. You will need to know how to crochet if you choose to crochet the bonnet ties. Or, you can knit the wide ties (instructions included), or use sari silk, velvet, or chiffon ribbon.

My gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows is 10x10 cms.
