This granny square bag is an easy pattern. You only need two granny squares (one for the front and one for the back)!

If you’re looking for a quick make to use up your yarn stash, this could well be the project you need right now.

I’ve designed this granny square purse so that it can be worn as a cross body bag or hand-held. The sturdy handle is removable so you can choose whether you want a longer or shorter handle.

A crocheted lining gives added security – nothing will be able to fall out!

The bag handles are crocheted using the no-stretch strap and are secured by tying through the top left and right corner spaces of the granny square.

Alternatively, the handles can be sewn into place.

However, if you tie them, you can switch up your granny square crochet purse with either shorter or longer handles.
