Simple Grey Bag
I created this pattern based on having extra yarn to use up.
It is a small purse. This pattern has freedom to increase in size by continuation of the base pattern.
I used a half of skein about 200 yards.
Cast on 72
Garter stitch the base of your bag. 36 rows of desired base width.
Place Marker
Pick up 18 stitches along short edge
Place Marker
Pick up 72 stitches along edge next long edge
Place Marker
Pick up 18 stitches along short edge
Place Marker.
All stitches are on needles. For a total of 180 stitches.
Knit until desired height is meet (shown as 12 inches prior to felting)
At place marker for long edge determined to be your front,
K2P2 to create front ribbing
Slip PM Bind off 1.
Leaving 17 on short edge (this will begin your handle.
K17 Slip PM Knit 72 Slip PM Knit 17 Bo 1 K2P2
K17 Slip PM Knit 72 Slip PM Knit 17 Slip Pm K2P2 Slip PM
Repeat ** to ** 4x
After fourth time.
K17 Slip PM Knit 72 Slip PM Knit 17 Bo72
Slip 17 stitches on to stitch holder
Knit 72
Slip 17 stitches on to stitch holder
*Right side K72 Wrong side P72*
Repeat to desired length of Bag Flap
K2Tog3x, yo K3x, K2Tog3x Repeat across
P across on WS
K2Tog3x, yo K3x, K2Tog3x Repeat across
BIND OFF
Handle it Strap
Place 17 stitches on needle from stitch holder
RS: K17
WS: P17
Repeat to desired length of strap.
Bring to stitches on holder
Join to 17 on Stich Holder by K2Tog.
P 17
Bind Off
