Admiring the works of macrame artists as a crocheter, I created this wall hanging to honor the sophisticated simplicity of macrame knots by using just crochet techniques. With this FREE easy crochet pattern, you will be able to create a simple yet sophisticated wall hanging that will surely leave your fingers yearning to make more than just one! Experiment with different fibers and weights of yarn, and you may well create yourself a whole wall of crocheted wall decor, adding simple texture to the walls of your home, child’s room, or nursery.

Because this is free, the reward would be to see your finished product! Please share your project here and/or on Instagram and tag me @minimalismwithyarn. Thank you!

Materials Needed

  • 12 inch (~30.5 cm) wooden dowel
  • Bulky yarn weight 5 of cotton blend yarn (I used only 1 skein of Bernat Maker Home Dec in Cream)
  • I/9 or 5.5mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Scissors

(Note: I used to be @minimyarnism on Instagram during the publication of this article, but I’ve since changed names and am now @minimalismwithyarn!)
