This is a very simple pattern for a newborn vest that is knitted all in one and seamed down the sides.
As a longer vest, and being stretchy around the chest and bottom ribbing to accommodate a growing baby, gauge isn’t a big issue since babies come in a variety of sizes. I use 4.5mm needles and approximately 75grams of any 8ply wool. These are perfect for charity knits.
