Easy to knit fingerless mittens with a wide rib pattern.

Instructions include both bottom up and top down variations. The instructions are for knitting in the round using magic loop, but could be done with double-pointed needles. Any 8 ply (DK) yarn could be used. The pattern suits variegated yarns or could be done with stripes or contrasting cuffs and top rib. The left and right mittens are knit the same.

Sizes are small to average adult or large adult - the rib pattern gives quite a bit of stretch, so the only difference in the two sizes is in the length and the width of the thumb. If a slightly wider fit is needed, go up a needle size.
Larger size is shown in brackets. If only one figure given, work the same for both sizes.

A huge thanks to Ozifarmer (Dawn) for the top down instructions.

Errarata: Two abbreviations used in top down version are missing from the abbreviations list.

pm = place marker
sm = slip marker

Errata: Alternative Cast On should be 1 stitch more than normal cast on. V3 has this altered.
