Can use any yarn you desire for a scarf. Gauge will change but you can always just keep crocheting until it’s a desired length.
You can also change hook size to fit the gauge suggested for your yarn. It really doesn’t matter too much though.

Quick and easy scarf. Great for holidays, especially as gifts to people who don’t do yarn crafts. :)
