Sonder (noun): the realization that each random person you encounter has a life as vivid and complex as your own, with their own thoughts, feelings, and experiences. It is the understanding that everyone is the main character in their own story, and you are just a fleeting presence in the background of their lives.
Knit from the cuff down to the toe, these socks feature a repetitive and simple woven basket texture, reminiscent of the way other people weave into our lives. While we are each our own main characters, the Simple Sonder Socks remind us that we are not alone in our own intricate narratives and that everyone is living their own profound inner lives.
There is a playlist of songs on the last page that helped inspire this pattern. I hope you enjoy knitting to them as much as I did!
