Simple Star Stitch Slippers
A free version is also available.
ABOUT:
I needed a quick and easy pair of slippers, but I wanted to jazz them up a little by using a pretty crochet stitch. These cozy slippers can easily be crocheted in an afternoon and are so comfy to wear around the house.
I added a small loop to the back of each slipper so they can be hung up by the fireplace to dry after hand washing. The star stitch gives them a lovely textured look, while the pattern itself is very forgiving if you need to make a small stitch-count adjustment along the way.
SIZE:
The pattern is written for a women’s medium, fitting an approximately 9” (23 cm) long x 3.5” (9 cm) wide foot.
The size can easily be adjusted by changing your hook size, using a lighter or heavier yarn, or beginning with more or fewer stitches.
YARN:
Main Color: Approximately 100 g / 3 oz of worsted, heavy worsted, or Aran-weight yarn. I used 86 g of rustic wool yarn for my sample.
Contrasting Color: A few yards of worsted, heavy worsted, or Aran-weight yarn for the border. I used approximately 1 g of thick-and-thin merino wool for my sample.
HOOK:
US I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook, or size needed to obtain gauge.
GAUGE:
8 sts + 6 rows = 4” (10 cm) in star stitch using a US I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook, or hook size needed to obtain gauge.
