This is a great beginner pattern, with step-by-step instructions that include illustrations. Starting with the ear flaps, you will learn simple increases to knit up from the tip on the two flaps and then join them in the round to complete the hat. The pattern comes in three sizes:
Baby: 15-16” in circumference, 5-5.5” deep
Child: 18-19”, 7-7.5” deep
Adult: 20-21”, 8-9” deep

Yarn Needed: Baby=90 yds, Child=115 yds, Adult=135
The gauge is 4 stitches per inch, so you can use any yarn and needles that will yield this gauge.

I have used Fox Fibre 10/2/5 on size 6 needles, Mauna Kea Organic Pima on 8’s, and I have double DK weight and used 6’s to get the gauge.
