pattern is in multiples of three….the ones i like best were 63 stitches to start….60 if you want it to be more like an ascot…

if you want to use a lighter weight yarn, just make sure to do multiples of 3 so that stitches lay right…. a fingering weight, 400yd yarn using a F,G or H hook should have the same result….

one skein of worsted to aran weight 200-225yds is perfect….depends how tightly you crochet.

i used a youtube video for double crochet chainless foundation and joining….

(for my cowl you DO want to twist 1/2 turn before joining and i join into first stitch where video shows joining into second)
