This is a simple crochet pattern that I am looking for some critique on. It is my first written pattern, as I am planning on eventually teaching a crochet class at a local art center. I would love to hear feedback from beginners and experts alike!

The pattern creates a short, chunky cowl with stripes. It includes color changes, double crochet, single crochet, chain and slip stitches. The original pattern is for a short, snug cowl, but could be made to be any length by increasing the original foundation chain.

Things I would like to know:

  • Is the pattern well written? (And is it written in a fashion that could help teach students how to read a pattern.)
  • Is there anything missing? (Any information that would be important to add that I’ve forgotten.)
  • Do you think that it is appropriate for beginners?

Any input would be greatly appreciated and helpful. Please feel free to message me here on Revelry or via Instagram if you found me there. I will be replacing the image of the finished cowl soon with a better quality photo.
